Escultruas de madera (wood sculptures)

Estas son 3 de las obras que integran la serie "De la tierra roja" y que formaron parte de la muestra que presenté para mi tesis de licenciatura. La priemra se llama "Tereré por medio", la segunda "Tacua Kama" y la tercera "Yerba Ponchada".



These are 3 of the wood sculpture from the serie "De la tierra roja" (from the red land) and they were part of te exhibition of my thesis. The first one is called "Tereré por medio" (tereré bethen). The tereré is a traditional drink from my province and Paraguay, also knows as cold mate. The second one is called "Tacua Kama", thats is a dance of the guaraní tribe. And the last one is called "Yerba ponchada", that is when the yerba mate harvesters join all the yerba leaves into a big bag, and ut then on the trunks to the transfer.

Algunos bocetos con tinta china, utilizando simbología azteca. A veces se me ocurre probar cosas como estas.

Tomando Forma - Taking shape

De a poco la última escultura de la tesis va tomando forma. Sólo faltan detalles, lijados y pulidos, y a preparar la exposición.

Slowly the last sculpture of the thesis is taking shape. Only details are absent, sanded and polished... the exhibition is coming!

Torso Femenino

Esta es una de mis primera experiencias en talla en madera. Se trata de un torso desnudo femenino hecho en algarrobo. El algarrobo es una madera dura, bastante difícil de trabajar en comparación con otras que he probado, por lo que quede muy conforme con el resultado que obtuve (además de que fue la primer talla figurativa que realicé) Tiene aproximadamente 35 cm de altura.

This is one of my first experiences in wood carving. It`s a naked woman`s body made with carob tree. The carob tree is a harwood, quite difficult to work in compartion with other I`ve tested. So that I stay happy with the result I got (And that was the first figurative work I made in wood). It has aproximately 35 cm height.

A resguardo

Otra de mis obras con chatarra. Generalmente cuando trabajo con chatarra trato de no modificar demasiado los elemntos que van formar parte de la obra. La idea es componer por medio del ensamblaje tratando de escojer los mejores elementos para cada trabajo y crear cierta homogeneidad del material. De esta forma trato de centrar la atención en la comoposición, el recorrido, los ejes y los espacios generados o volúmenes vacios.

Another of my works with scrap. Usually when I working with scrap I try not to change too much the elements that will form part of the work. The idea is to compose by assembling, trying to chose the best elements for each work and create some homogeneity of the material. With this treatmente, I try to focus attention on the composition, axs, spaces generated or empty volumes.
